A Summer Ball Game

6.22.09
Lucas's Cardinals play on a beautiful summer evening. It was so relaxing to sit and watch. Do little boys ever really grow up? Mac will be 11 in a week and he played for almost an hour here with his transformers- all by himself. So cute!!!

There's my little slowpoke. I LOVE my boys, but they are THE slowest runners EVER!! It's more like a trot.Lu and Dad (coaching third base.)

All in a Day's Work... for a Boy

6.19.08
The boys play baseball...
(take a good look atMac's face! What do you think that conversation as about?)
And the boys play in the mud!!... Then the boys break appendages...
While Greg was coaching first base at Mac's game above, a line drive was hit directly at him (Greg that is)and his thumb got in the way. Instead of going to the emergency room, we went to see our friendly neighborhood trauma surgeon and he said splint it and take some ibruprofen. So he did. After 4 days, it is still swollen and is now a shade of green instead of purple. He can move it, so we think it is healing!!

Baseball Player or HAM?

5.28.09

An interesting day I would call it. Greg was woking all night and the boys had games at the same time. So I dropped Mac off with his team and coach, but as I was walking away from the field, the lightning detection system went off. Apparently it detects lightning 30 miles away. When this happens, the games are delayed 30 minutes to wait to see what happens with the weather. But it wasn't raining and it looked like it would blow over. So I left Mac with the coach and a reliable parent friend and went to see about Lu's game.
Lu's game didn't have the lightning detection system. So their game began as planned. However, about 10 minutes in, it began to sprinkle. Then about 5 minutes after that a downpour swept in from the west. Everyone made a mad sprint for cover. We waited in the car. Less than 10 minutes later, the game resumed. Now the boys were loving sitting on the bench waiting for their turn at bat because underneath their feet were puddles and they could make MUD!
Well Mac's game was called after 2 innings of play due to the same rain we got -just a mile away. But because we were not on the " special fields" our game (Lu's) was allowed to resume and Mac's game was not. So I got the phone call and left to pick up Mac and bring him over to Lu's game.
Lu became a complete HAM when he went into the outfield late in the game. You will see what I mean as you look through the photos below.
And so it begins... The inner Ham is peaking out... Amd THERE it is!!!!!

Arndt Family Farm

Finally!!! Our garden is in! After several weeks of tiller problems, we managed to get everything in the ground today! YEAH!!! It feels so good!
You can see in these pictures that the garden consists of 3 strips of land.Everyone helped prepare for this. Here Lucas is helping me dig the holes.
Here is what is growing...green peppers ( and red and yellow and jalapeno corn,
watermelon,
chocolate mint,
spearmint,
all kinds of tomatoes,
pumpkins,
and
sunflowers!! I can't wait to eat it all! All I can think of is fresh salsa, fried gree tomatoes, and fresh corn on the cobb! Mmmmmmm, Mmmmmmmm, Good!
Next year, I'm adding beets, broccoli, and I am determined to find half runner beans!
