A little help from their friends...

4. 26.09
With the beautiful weather this weekend, we had the opportunity to get 10 yards of mulch and about half of it spread! Greg and Mac were loading the wheelbarrows and I was spreading. Lucas was helping wherever he could. But after awhile the boys got very tired of "working" and wanted to play. Not long after that, our neighbors/friends, "the brothers", as we call them, came over and asked if they could help!!! Seriously?? You bet! In a matter of minutes we had 7 boys ( age 6-10), each with a shovel, digging in to our gigantic mountain of mulch! We finished up half the beds within a half hour of our industrious helpers arriving!
THANK YOU!!
Now when will the other half get finished? hmmmmm

Even Tom got involved!

Grandma and Papa Visit

4.11.2009

Grandma, Papa and Uncle Todd visited today, the day before Easter. Papa was not well. Greg's Dad has Parkinsons and cancer- multiple myeloma. We have not seen them since Thanksgiving- they have been on Florida. Paul was not doing well and Molly was worried he about him ending up in the hospital in Florida. They returned to Toledo at the end of March. Todd left Chicago and returned to Toledo to live with his parents while his Dad remains ill. Todd drove them down yesterday. As soon as they arrived Paul went to bed. We went out to lunch without him and to Lucas's soccer game. After we went home to check on Paul, Molly wanted to take take the boy's toy shopping. So we ran around for awhile. When we returned, Paul was up, but wanted to immediately go home. I think this will probably be his last visit to Dublin.

Todd and Molly watch the boys playing Wii.

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt 2009

4.2.09

Our 4th Annual Neighbor's Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt happened last night. What fun!! This is a blast and the kids absolutely LOVE it!! We (the parents) go out about 20 minutes before dark and hide the eggs all over the island, rocks, playground. Then we bring the kids out right before it is dark. We line them up by age. And we allow the 3 and under crowd to go first, directing them to the mulched area. About 10 minutes later we let the 4-5 year olds go. About 4 minutes later the 6-7 year olds, them the 8 and up! This year we went upto 11 year olds! The old pros: Sam, Matthew, and Mac

Creek Walk with Ron Hirschi

3.30.2009
Ron Hirschi is a biologist, environmentalist, and children's author. He combined with some Dublin art teachers created the Riverboxes along the Scioto River. During the fall art classes at St. Brigid, each student created a Riverbox log/journal, then visited each river box. Ron visited St. Brigid in the fall and took each class out to the pond and studied the pond life. He came back March 30th to take the classes through the creek.Ron Hirschi talks to the students to prepare them for the journey and what to look for.Mac's class observing and searching.Ron and Partick Young wading.Mrs. Habel, art teacher, discusses a speciman found with Molly and Natalie.
