Christmas Eve 2009

12.24.2009

Christmas Eve

We attended the St. Brigid Children's mass at 4pm. And while it was very nice, I think I am over going to this particular mass. I love having the children there, but because they "do" all the main "jobs" cantor, readings, gifts, etc. it loses a little a little something for me. And the proverbial "straw" for me is the crowd! I thought I was used to it, but I don't think I can ever get used to it! It's insane! People EVERYWHERE! And because ( well maybe because of this) they are not in normal seats, or seats at all, they feel its OK to talk and play and eat and ....

It just made me crazy this year! Maybe part of that was that we were in the gym instead of the church ( our church is being expanded over the next 18 months). It definitely doesn't feel as spiritual.

Anyway, after mass, we had our annual dinner at my favorite steak restaurant... Hyde Park. There have been a few visits in recent years where I felt the food was not at the standard it should be. But this Christmas Eve, I had the BEST dinner I have EVER had there!!! It was mouthwateringly fabulous!!!!! I am salivating now just writing about it! YUMMY!!! And our oldest son, Tom, came with us! (For those of you completely baffled by this statement, Tom is our friend who lives almost right behind us. He is a childhood friend of Greg's that he had reconnected with through fate several times in his life. Tom is a single dad and he spends some quality time with us often. Greg always refers to him as our "oldest" son not in small part due to his stature, but also because of the amount of time we are together.

After dinner we had a wonderful time at our friends the Millers. We played games, watched a little football and just had an all around great time!! It always feels so comfortable and warm being around the Millers.
Soon it was time to go and give Santa a chance to do his thing! Enjoy the pics of the evening...
