Munchkins

1.25.09
The Lamberjack Ladies from next door visited us for a couple hours today. Carmen is 4 and Lindsey is 2. They are so darn cute!!!!!!!!
Greg ALWAYS pretends he's going to "get" them. You know? SO everytime the girls see him they call his name because they want the attention, but then as soon as he pretents to "get" them they SCREAM - girly loud and piercing screams and run!!
Well when they were here Greg was at OSU for a game. Lindsey was sitting next to me eating and she said, "Where is Mr. Gweg?" That is how she says it GWEG. I told her he was at a basketball game but he would be home soon. And she said," I don't want to see Mr. Gweg!"
It was so funny! Because you just knew what she was thinking... 1) my mom and dad aren't here to protect me, 2) I am at Mr. Gweg's house, 3) There is a not a sheet of glass between me and him! ( usually she pounds on her kitchen window to get Greg's attention.) So DARN CUTE!

Skating Party

1.24.09
The Knight of Columbus puts on a Skating Party every year at the Chiller. This year we finally got to go. We all had a great time, but I have to say...I must get my kids on the ice more often!! I grew up with a skating rink at the park between school and home. We went almost everyday after school as a group. I never had a day of lessons. But I can skate well ( if I do say so myself). Mac had skating lessons when he was 3 and 4. What a waste of money!! He remembers nothing! He grips the side railing as if it were his last lifeline to a sinking ship! GEEZ!!! Lucas wasn't much better. At the end ( the last 40 minutes) he spent most of his time in the center ice with a friend racing. But Lu never had a lesson and he's younger than Mac! The important thing is they both LOVED it and want to go back. We definitely must! No kid of mine is going to be a wimp on skates! ;<)

Lucas's First Organized Basketball Team

1.24.09

Today Lucas began basketball for the first time in an organized league. This is the first year that the DYA has had a league for first and second graders. It is a developmental league and so far it has been great. I really like the way the teach all the kids the skills for the first half hour and then the second half hour they play 3 on 3. Lu's team is the JAZZ! Not that it matters at all- they all wear the same exact DYA green/white jersey!

Winter Scrapbook Weekend

1.19.09
Well, I wanted to post the pics from our fabulous winter scrapbook weekend at Cherry Valley Lodge!! However, I didn't take my camera with me, so I decided to use my new camera phone. Huh. The pictures weren't great, but they did come out. But Blogger apparantly doen't like them because it won't let me complete the upload!

So I will just tell you! It was wonderful! I completed a scrapbook for a friend of mine - 24 pages! Then I completed 12 pages in Mac's book book and 4 pages in Lu's! YIPPEE! So much accomplished! Plus I spent quality time with some great friends, and I got a pedicure!! Woo Hoo!

On the negative side: 1)We had a fire at the hotel. The fire alarms went off 3 times. There was a fire in the laundry room. 2) It was freezing! You would think a great time to be inside a lodge. But the damn lodge was COLD! REALLY cold! Then when we would adjust the temp it would become a sauna. There was no in between! 3) A problem we have found everytime we have been there is the humidity or lack there of! It is so dry that your eyes begin to burn as the day goes on.

But, none the less I will do it again and again! It is wonderful!! Maybe some of you will join us next time!!!

Saying Goodbye...

1.4.09
The only way out was not the way in. It had to be piece by piece. The enormous pine had served it's purpose and it was time to go. So Greg did it piece by piece.

An Indiana Jones Adventure...

1.10.09
Even though his actual birthday isn't until next Wednesday- January 14th- we celebrated Lucas's 7th birthday with 14 little boys ( oh and 1 girl, sorry Lexi). Of course, Lucas insisted we do a theme, he has told me that a birthday any other way is just too boring! What did I create? How much longer will we have to do this? Don't get me wrong, it is fun creating the ideas and super fun watching all the kids, especially LU's, expressions as they "experience" the fun. But... it gets more difficult each year to top the creativity of last year and get it all done while I'm working. Every year though, I am so glad I did it!

This year's theme... can you hear it?... ( I'm singing the theme song for you now...)

INDIANA JONES

and our main character
When the adventurers arrived, they visited Dr. Jones office where they saw many of his notes and maps. Here they found Dr. Jones absent but in his place he left a clue. A few of our adventurers...

The next clue told them to unwrap the mummy...

The next clue sent the adventurers to a cave to find the golden cup, the 5 color jewels, and the silver coins. This cave was frought with snakes, spiders, darkness and even a few skeletons.
