NYC- Day 2
Our first full day in NYC began with brilliant sunshine at Battery Park where we boarded a ferry for Liberty Island. It was an absolutely beautiful day! The boys really took in all the sites and sounds around them.Aboard the "Miss Ellis Island" Ferry.

Lady Liberty
Isn't this an idyllic scene?
Disembarking the ferry onto Ellis Island.
In my opinion, Ellis Island is one of the best historical museums in existence! If you hav never visited, you are missing out on an incredible learning experience. I was so happy to share this experience with my children. This scene is in the entrance of the museum, and shows how the immigrants brought as many wordly possession that they could carry.
This is one of the many incredible visual displays. This one depicts the rate of immigration across a century.
These photos show a fascinating display about the etymology of words in the English language and which groups of immigrants brought us these words.
Little Lucas caught us relaxing in the Great Hall.
Outside the main building on Ellis, is the wall of names of all the actual immigrants. Mac is pointing to the Willam McCready family from Scotland. This is my grandfather's family- My dad's dad was not born yet when his mom and dad and older brothers and sister arrived here at Ellis.

The boys checking out the views on the ferry on the way back to Battery Park.
Apparantly, Spinderman is real and lives nearby, right here at Battery park.
Ground Zero
Right acrosss the street from the site of the Twin Towers is Fire Station # 10. They have begun building on the former site of the twin towers. But the side wallof this firestation has a beautiful memorial...This relief is made of something that looks like copper and extends the entire length of the building.
